Anu Abdi
Anu’s journey
Anu Abdi (born Jalonen) is an Ashtanga yoga teacher authorized by SYC/KPJAY, born in Pori, Finland. Anu's love for Ashtanga started right from the first lesson in 2009, and the journey has many things in it. Alongside Ashtanga, Anu has also sought more understanding and support from vipassana meditation, craniosacral therapy, rebalancing body therapy and energy work. Still, traveling, studying under his own guru in Mysore, India, his own strong home practice and the addition of a family are the things that have influenced his way of being and teaching the most.
Anu has been teaching throughout Satakunta (mainly in Pori and Harjavalla) and in Rovaniemi since 2016, in 2019 her guru Sharathji Jois blessed Anu's teaching by authorizing it. Anu also implements the study ground at Sharath Yoga Center, because one's own practice is the most important thing in yoga. Other teachers are Stefan Engström, Heidi Ruokoniemi, Petri Räisänen, Anthony Markwell (meditation), Leela Sarti, B. Naga Kumar and the highest of the gurus; Daughter Armi 1.5 years old and husband Amir.

"Simplicity, individuality, brightness and clarity are things that I try to bring out in my teaching. What Ashtanga gives the yogi a fine frame, the depth of which he can keep himself." Anu Abdi
Her thoughts on yoga
The dance of softness and strength, both on a gross and subtle level, is an integral part of the harmony of asana practice.
The multidimensional base of the Ashtanga asana series offers depth to anyone who wants to see. The possibility to influence one's mental conditions, limitations, potential. The strength to face one's own physical, emotional and energetic boundaries. The support to be present in one's body. Ability to understand your nervous system and develop body resilience. Create harmony.
In her teaching, Anu encourages yogis to embody through exercise, wake curiosity and motivate individual practice. Ashtanga asana practice can serve as a good tool towards Self-realization or the realization of the Supreme, as the Ashtanga tradition has intended.
