Marketing internship at Ashtanga Yoga Home

Internship experience 2024

Julianne Soe, an upcoming second-year student at Haaga Helia University, studying for a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Summer 2024, I have had the amazing opportunity to work as a marketing intern at Ashtanga Yoga Home. Throughout this internship, I deepened my knowledge in digital marketing and web design, working on projects that included wireframing, UI/UX designs, social media creations, research, and analysis.

My initial goal for this internship was to gain insights into marketing from a real business perspective and have hands-on experience in effectively marketing brands to users. I also wanted to apply theoretical knowledge from my business courses and put my skills into practice to develop a better understanding from a marketer’s viewpoint. I was excited to help build an online presence and enhance Ashtanga Yoga Home’s brand visibility in Finland and internationally across various platforms, developing content ideas and strategies.

One project that I had a great time working on, was creating a wireframe and translating it into a website design for Ashtanga Yoga Home. Wireframing was a very new concept to me and this task allowed me to delve deeper into its purpose and significance.

I conducted thorough research on user flows and UX designs which helped me create mockups that were both functional and user-friendly. My focus was on understanding user patterns and strategically placing interfaces to guide their attention to key information. When designing the website, my main goal was to ensure that the site was not only visually appealing but also easy to navigate and accessible, all while maintaining a consistent brand identity across the website, including interactive elements. I started with a desktop-first approach as most of the target audience access the site from desktops. It allowed me to design an optimal layout that could easily be scaled down for mobile devices.

I enjoyed expressing my creative freedom while reflecting the brand guidelines. I aimed to keep the aesthetics minimal and represent simplicity that resonates with Ashtanga Yoga Home’s brand identity. Therefore, my choice of color palette and typography was also chosen in alignment with the company’s image, and I carefully selected pictures to ensure a cohesive look that matched the overall vision.

This internship has been a rewarding experience, seeing my designs come to life. It helped me gain more confidence in my creative abilities and provided a fresh perspective on marketing and design. Working with the team has also been a great pleasure and their thoughts and support were very motivating. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Ashtanga Yoga home and for the chance to learn and explore new skills. I’m excited to carry what I have learned into future endeavors and continue growing.
